The Challenge

Have you ever met someone who's so passionate about what they do that it sparks your curiosity? Well, that's exactly what happened when I met Jhony. We were both part of a running group that met up at Central Park for different workouts, training for our own races.

The Approach

As we became close friends, I learned that Jhony was going through orthodontic treatment at another office, and he seemed to be getting pretty frustrated with how long it was taking.

The Execution

Jhony kept asking me for advice, but without knowing the end goal of his treatment, it was tough for me to give him solid recommendations. But then, after a year and a half of friendship, Jhony excitedly shared that his braces were finally coming off, and he wanted me to help him take his smile to the next level.

When we assessed Jhony's situation, a couple of things caught our eye.

First, he had developed some noticeable gaps near his gumline, which we in the dental world call "black holes." Nobody wants those! We also noticed that his teeth weren't quite lining up with the midline of his face. It seemed like the orthodontic treatment had shifted his teeth a bit too far in one direction, causing them to lean sideways. On top of that, Jhony mentioned that after years of wearing braces, his teeth had gotten darker and more yellow. Not cool!

Ideally, we would have loved to see Jhony's teeth better aligned from the get-go, but since this was the final result after his orthodontic journey, we had to work with what we had and make it amazing. Our game plan for Jhony included placing 10 veneers on his upper teeth and 6 on his lower teeth. We were determined to give him a smile that would make him feel confident and excited to show off.
